![]() You do need to read the manual to understand the controls, but once read it's all easy enough to use. The timer allows you to record at a preset time too. It will also record from any other external source using the line-in connection. I've been using rechargeable batteries and they seem to last forever, and as they are the standard AA size it means you can always get some new ones anywhere in the world if they do run out on you. If you use that version of the firmware though, it means the player will only work as USB 1, so copying files is slower, but I don't see that as a big deal personally, although it does seem a bit odd. There is a firmware version which allows the player to be used as a UMS device which means it acts like a USB pendrive, and therefore you don't need the supplied Music Manager software to copy music to it etc. I upgraded the firmware as soon as I got it, which was straight forward enough. I'm not sure the person that gave the negative review had the same MP3 player as me! The player that turned up was black, which it wasn't in the photo on Amazon - but I prefer the black anyway, so no problem there! I have to agree with the two other positive reviews.
